Fat Dissolving

Are you bothered by unwanted fat under your chin? Surgery is no longer the only option for treating submental fullness, aka the “double chin.” Our Fat Dissolving injectable treatment creates a slimmer, more defined appearance, making patients feel more confident in their profile.

Get The Facts

Deoxycholic acid is a naturally occurring molecule in the body that aids in the breakdown of fat. Deoxycholic acid can safely be injected under the chin to target and eliminate fat cells. The submental fullness will gradually improve with each treatment session, with many patients seeing substantial improvements in just 2-4 treatments with little downtime.

Frequently Asked Questions

+ Will Deoxycholic Acid treatment give permanent results?

Yes! The fat cells in the treated area are permanently destroyed and eliminated through a natural bodily process called lipolysis.
A healthy lifestyle is encouraged to maintain optimal results. If weight gain does occur, your existing fat cells can increase in size.

+ What should I expect during a Deoxycholic Acid treatment?

Treatment will take approximately 30 minutes. Your provider will apply a topical numbing cream and an ice pack before treatment to decrease discomfort. Some patients describe the injections to be mildly painful, especially immediately after treatment. It may be beneficial to take an over-the-counter analgesic (avoid NSAIDs to decrease bruising risk) before your appointment to help decrease treatment discomfort.

+ Is there downtime after Deoxycholic Acid treatment?

Swelling and tenderness are very common for several days post Deoxycholic Acid treatment; We will send you home with an ice pack to help relieve the discomfort. We recommend scheduling the treatment 2-4 weeks in advance before attending an important event. It may be beneficial to take an over-the-counter analgesic (avoid NSAIDs to decrease bruising risk) in the days following treatment to help decrease tenderness.

+ What are the potential side effects of fat dissolving treatments?

Common side effects may include swelling, bruising, redness, tenderness, and numbness in the treated area. These effects are usually temporary and subside within a few days to a few weeks.

+ Are fat dissolving treatments suitable for everyone?

Fat dissolving treatments are generally safe for healthy individuals with unwanted fat. However, it is important to consult with a dermatologist or aesthetician to determine if the treatment is suitable for you.

+ Are fat dissolving treatments permanent?

Fat dissolving treatments can provide long-lasting results, but they are not necessarily permanent. The treated fat cells are eliminated from the body, but it is still possible for new fat cells to develop in the treated area if proper diet and exercise habits are not maintained.
