Before You Arrive
Prepare for a smooth visit by following these simple steps:
- Complete your Health History form in advance or arrive 15 minutes early to do so in-clinic.
- Eat a light snack 30 to 60 minutes before your appointment.
- Remove all makeup from the treatment area.
- Use medical-grade SPF 50 daily on the treatment area for 4 to 6 weeks prior.
- Wear loose, comfortable clothing.
- Shower before your visit, as you may not be able to wash your hair for a few days.
- Please shave any facial hair in the treatment area before your appointment.
How to Prepare
- After your consultation, you’ll receive prescriptions for Valtrex, Hydroval, and Fucidin. Please pick them up before your appointment.
- Start taking Valtrex two days before treatment.
- You may take Tylenol® beforehand to help with discomfort.
- Your practitioner will send you detailed pre-care instructions tailored to your needs.
What to Avoid
For best results, avoid the following:
- Alcohol and smoking for 24 hours before treatment
- Caffeine on the day of your appointment
- Blood-thinning medications and supplements (e.g., Advil®, fish oil, vitamin E) unless necessary
- Neuromodulators for 2 weeks prior
- Fillers for 4 weeks prior
- Sun exposure, spray tans, or self-tanners for 4 to 6 weeks prior
- Retinol or active exfoliants for 5 to 7 days prior
- Accutane must be stopped for at least 6 months before treatment
- We cannot treat clients who are pregnant or breastfeeding

Plan for seven full days of rest indoors:
- Mild bleeding or oozing may occur in the first 24 hours
- Redness, swelling, and tenderness are typical for a few days

- Avoid direct sun exposure on the treated area for at least 1 week to reduce the risk of irritation or discoloration.
How to Care for Your Skin
- Start vinegar soaks and use a gentle cleanser the day after treatment
- Apply a thin layer of Aquaphor after cleansing
- Repeat vinegar soaks up to 5 times daily if needed
- Continue gentle cleansing morning and night
- Start prescribed ointments on day 3
- Begin moisturizer (as recommended) on day 4
- Finish your Valtrex prescription as directed
- Antihistamines may help with swelling
- Keep the area clean and tie your hair back
What to Avoid
Please avoid the following during recovery:
- Sun exposure for 1 week
- Hot tubs, saunas, baths, steam rooms for 1 week
- Strenuous exercise for 1 week
- Makeup, lotions, and active skincare for 1 week
- Shaving the treated area for 2 weeks
Follow-Up
- Contact us right away if you see blisters, cold sores, or pustules
- Your provider may recommend additional treatments based on your results
