This non-ablative laser treatment is less invasive to the skin and requires less downtime than ablative options. The ResurFX laser heats targeted tissue, creating controlled minor “wounds” deeper in the skin without destroying any surrounding tissue. The heat stimulates the body’s natural wound-healing response to produce collagen and elastin, which, in time, creates a smoother skin surface. Depending on the severity of the skin concerns, multiple treatments may be required for optimal results. After the laser treatments, results to the skin will continue to improve for up to six months.
Before you Arrive:
+ Please ensure you have filled out your Health History/Intake form before your appointment. If you are unable to complete it, please arrive 15 minutes early
+ We recommend eating a light snack or meal 30min-1hr before your appointment
+ Remove makeup before the appointment
+ Ensure you wear medical grade SPF 50 in the treatment area 4-6 weeks prior
+ Let your provider know if you have a history of cold sores and we will provide you with a prophylactic prescription of Valtrex
What To Avoid:
Please avoid the following:
+ Retinol or active exfoliants for 5-7 days prior
+ Neuromodulators for at least 2 weeks prior
+ Filler for at least 4 weeks prior
+ Sun exposure 4-6 weeks prior
+ Tanning including spray tan and self-tanning products 4-6 weeks prior (if you have a tan at the time of your appointment it will have to be rescheduled for safety reasons)
+ Must be off of oral isotretinoin for a minimum of 6 months prior
+ Is it our policy not to provide treatment if you are pregnant or breastfeeding
Downtime:
+ Downtime is dependent on the skin concern that is being treated
+ Minor swelling, redness, dryness, and flaking are possible after treatment
+ Skin can feel textured, with a minor bumpy sensation
+ Minor sunburn-like sensation may be present for 24 hours after treatment
Post Care:
+ Cool compresses can be applied to the treatment area to soothe discomfort
+ Mineral makeup can be applied immediately
+ Ensure to stay out of the sun and wear SPF 50
+ Ask your provider for product recommendations
What To Avoid:
+ Hot water, friction, and strenuous exercise for 3 days
+ Active skin care products (AHA’s, BHA’s, retinol, and exfoliants) for 1 week
+ Physical exfoliation for 1 week
+ Direct sun exposure during the entire treatment plan and wear SPF 50 at all times

ResurFX is non-ablative, meaning that this type of laser does not damage the surface of the skin, making it safe for most skin types with minimal downtime. It targets deeper, specific tissue creating a tightening effect and an overall even complexion.
Because we are heating the deeper layers of the skin, most clients describe the ResurFX treatment as a tingling hot sensation. Immediately following ResurFX, your skin will feel warm and inflamed. The skin will be flaking, dry, or reddened for 2-3 days post-treatment. For patients with sensitive skin, the irritation can take up to a couple weeks to fully subside.
Yes! Combining IPL with ResurFX is known as a Photofractional treatment, which targets unwanted pigment and texture in one treatment. If targeting scars, depending on the type of scarring, we recommend pairing ResurFX with a PRP treatment to enhance the wound healing response, or a Steroid Scar Injection to help diminish the excess scar tissue. It’s best to wait 4 weeks between treatments to allow the skin time to heal.
The results of ResurFX treatment can be long-lasting; however, they are not permanent. Factors such as the individual’s age, lifestyle, and ongoing skin care routine can affect the duration of the results. Periodic maintenance treatments may be recommended to sustain the improvements.
