Laser Melasma Treatment — treatment
Laser — in clinic

Melasma is a specific type of hyperpigmentation caused by hormones, often presenting on the cheeks, forehead, and upper lip. Melasma can be stubborn to treat, but with the right approach with our SKIN team, the condition can be taken care of and quality of life improved. Our Laser Melasma Treatment targets and breaks down the existing pigmentation for a clearer looking complexion.

Melasma is a complex type of hyperpigmentation to treat. It requires special care and knowledge of lasers and products to inhibit pigment production in the skin. Melasma can be stimulated by heat, therefore precise laser modalities and settings are chosen by your technician, curating the procedure for you and your skin. It is important that throughout your consultation, you have a clear understanding that melasma may only be improved temporarily.

With the combination of medical-grade skincare and laser treatments, we can help suppress the melasma leaving you with glowing results.

Treatment FAQ

About Laser Melasma Treatment.

This is one of the most important and honest conversations we have with our melasma clients. Melasma is a chronic, complex skin condition driven by a combination of genetic predisposition, hormonal influence, and UV exposure. While laser treatment can deliver significant, meaningful, and life-changing improvement in melasma pigmentation, it is not a permanent cure. The melanocytes responsible for melasma remain present in the skin and can be reactivated by sun exposure, hormonal changes, and heat at any time. This is why strict, lifelong sun protection is the single most critical component of any melasma management strategy — without it, even the most successful laser results will be short-lived. With a commitment to diligent daily SPF, a targeted brightening skincare routine, and periodic maintenance treatments, many of our clients achieve a lasting, significant reduction in their melasma that profoundly improves their skin confidence and quality of life over the long term.

While IPL has its place in treating certain types of pigmentation, it is generally considered less precise and less suitable for melasma than dedicated laser treatment — and in some cases, the broad-spectrum light energy of IPL can actually worsen melasma by stimulating melanocyte activity through heat. Laser Melasma Treatment uses specific, precisely calibrated wavelengths that target melasma pigmentation with far greater accuracy and control, delivering energy to the exact depth and location of the pigmentation while minimising the risk of heat-induced melanocyte stimulation and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. For clients with melasma, this precision and control is critical and is why laser treatment, performed by an expert provider with a thorough understanding of melasma pathophysiology, consistently delivers superior and safer results than IPL for this notoriously complex and sensitive skin condition.
