At SKIN clinics, we are pleased to offer IPL Photorejuvenation by Lumenis. Our unique IPL technology gently and effectively improves discolorations such as age spots, sun spots, uneven tone, sun damaged skin, rosacea, broken capillaries, and red flushing skin. It also stimulates collagen and elastin fiber production, resulting in an overall improved appearance. The Lumenis IPL treatment was developed by the pioneer of aesthetic medicine, and is FDA cleared.
What is IPL?
IPL stands for Intense Pulsed Light. A broad spectrum light is transmitted through a handpiece tip that penetrates the tissue and creates heat, the heat it then targets the imperfection. The body naturally removes the treated tissue, the light causes collagen and elastin fibers to become stimulated, resulting in a visible improvement in the skins tone, and appearance.
How many treatments will I need?
Some skin concerns such as shallow pigmentation and age/sun spots can be cleared with as few as 1-2 treatments. Typically 2-6 sessions are needed to achieve optimal results.
What can I expect during/after my treatment?
A treatment should take anywhere from 30-45 minutes. First the area is cleaned, then to ensure the utmost comfort, your laser technician will apply a cold coupling gel on the treatment area. Once the treatment begins, your laser technician will do a test patch. When the light is delivered into the skin, you will feel a warm sensation, that is similar to the snap of a rubber band, but the treatment is gentle and should not feel uncomfortable.
Immediately following treatment, you may experience some redness. This redness usually doesn’t last more than 3 hours. It is advised that you stay out of direct sunlight for up to 72 hours, and to apply a sunscreen. Most people can return to regular activity right away.
