What is laser resurfacing?

Laser resurfacing is a fractionated, non-ablative laser that works with your skin to stimulate deep collagen and elastic fiber regeneration. The laser energy heats up the tissue in a controlled manner, stimulating the process in which new collagen is produced. Collagen gives our skin its elasticity and suppleness, and by producing new collagen the skin regains its youthful appearance.

How many treatments will I need?

Optimal results are achieved after 3-5 sessions, with 4-5 week intervals in between. You will continue to see improvements in the skin for up to 6 months following the last treatment.

What can I expect during/after my treatment?

Before your ResurFX treatment, your technician will apply a topical numbing cream. The session should last anywhere between 15-30 minutes. During the treatment, you may experience a warm or prickling sensation as the laser is applied to the skin, but the treatment is gentle and should not feel uncomfortable. After your treatment, your technician will remove the excess numbing cream and apply a cooling gel for comfort.

Redness and swelling are common right after treatment. The swelling with subside after only a few hours, and the redness may take anywhere from 1 to 3 days. Patients are usually able to resume with normal activity right after treatment. It is important that you stay out of direct sunlight, and apply sunscreen for a few days.
